Unplanned pregnancy? Talking to a counsellor can help

About Parenting

Any woman who decides to parent a child, whether alone or with a partner or family, needs on-going support. Parents need a range of supports, including medical (for both baby and mother), practical (finance, accommodation etc) and emotional. During a crisis pregnancy counselling session, the counsellor can assist you in exploring your emotional responses towards parenting and to explore the practicalities associated with becoming a parent.

Medical care during your pregnancy (ante-natal care) is free from maternity hospitals and may also be free from your GP, just ask. Your stay in the hospital after the birth is also free. Remember that alcohol, smoking and drugs can harm an unborn baby.

There are a range of supports available to assist in parenthood, see the links section on this page for more information.
